Community Concerns Ministry
The Community Concerns Ministry aims to (1) make the Bayview Baptist Church congregation aware of important political, social and economic issues that affect the church family and our community; (2) keep the congregation factually informed about matters that negatively impact the church family and our community; and, (3) inspire the congregation to advocacy in support of legislation and other initiatives that can positively influence or shape the well-being of members of the church family and our community.
The Community Concerns Ministry is particularly concerned about local and national disparities in education, health, voter registration and political participation, gang and crime prevention, police/community relations, the delivery of municipal services, and community responsibility and involvement.
The Community Concerns Ministry encourages Bayview Disciples to register to vote, participate in voter education programs, join community organizations that work on issues of interest to you (and share that information with us), and make yourself available to serve on local and statewide Boards and Commissions, especially neighborhood Planning Committees. The Community Concerns Ministry can help you do all these things, which result in the church’s greater influence in civic affairs that affect the welfare of the church family and our community.
The Community Concerns Ministry welcomes members of the congregation who share our vision to join us in developing and working the Community Concerns Agenda. We meet every 1st Tuesday at from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the MLK Center, Room 117. Please feel free to drop in.
