Youth Ministry

Purpose Driven in "The Next Level"

The Youth Department of Bayview is purpose driven for the new Millennium. Every youth of the church must know, and grow in the five eternal purposes God has for this ministry ---evangelism, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry.

The Purpose of Ministry:

Ministry can be defined as “meeting needs with love.” God has blessed every believer with special gifts to be used for ministry. In youth ministry we need to clearly communicate that these God-given gifts don’t come with an age limitation. Students shouldn’t have to wait until they are adults to minister. A healthy youth ministry will constantly encourage students to discover their gifts and put them into practice through ministry and mission opportunities. When the purpose of ministry is applied, we will graduate student ministers rather than program attendees, who are spectators with few roots to keep them planted in God’s ways. Student ministers won’t graduate from their faith when they graduate from the youth ministry.

Purpose Statement:

The Bayview Baptist Church youth ministry exists to train our young people to grow spiritually, to also reach non-believing youth, and connect them with other Christians, to help them grow in their faith, and to challenge the growth that will enable them to discover their ministry and honor God with their lives as they impact our community educationally, economically, socially and politically.

Our Youth Department’s purpose statement leaves no question about why we exist. It doesn’t give specific answers to how we will accomplish the why, because the how is not an important element for a purpose statement. The how will change as our programs change, but the why will never change.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18
